Skilled Occupation Lists

Due to the continued changes to the Migration Regulations and specifically to the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program, there is some confusion in regards to “Skilled Occupations”. There are now a number of past and present Occupation Lists depending on the circumstances, some of which include:

Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) – This list which relevant to a number of different visa classes including, Temporary Business (457), Employer Nomination and State Sponsored.

Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 1: This list applied to GSM applications;

Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 1 and 2: These lists applied to GSM applicants which were nominated by a State or Territory government agency under a State Migration Plan;

Skilled Occupation List (SOL) – Schedule 2A, 2B & 2C: These lists may apply to GSM applicants who are eligible for “transitional arrangements”;

Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation List (ENSOL): This list applied to applicants applying under the Employer Nomination Scheme and has been replaced by the CSOL;

Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL): This was a list which specified occupations which were in demand and attracted addition points for skilled migration.

As such, it is important that you obtain up to date advice to determining if you have an eligible occupation for the particular visa you intend to apply for.

The above should not be relied on for visa purposes. The Australian Migration Regulations are complex and there are various occupation lists relevant to different visa subclasses. The various Occupation Lists are subject to change by the Immigration Department at their discretion.
